DENIS FELIX

COURSE AND ARTISTIC APPROACH

Denis Félix's work is driven by an instinctive, almost primary photographic gesture and a desire to capture the sensitivity of the world around us through the emotion that runs through it. More concretely, he undertakes long journeys around the world and thus sets off to encounter landscapes – human, animal, plant – in search of looks, encounters and energies, which he translates into images with a photographic camera. large format.

In addition to the slowing down of time that the room offers, it allows him to glimpse the world differently, and to imagine new realities to explore. She becomes his ally in the creation of a memory of living things on the border between reality and imagination. In the same way as the photographic tool, Denis Félix also relies on the materiality of the supports to construct his images. He experiments with numerous printing processes and interventions on the print to multiply the looks and the possibilities of expressing a feeling.

Self-taught, Denis Félix began his photographic practice in 1985 after studying medicine. He began with commercial practice in fashion and advertising, then alternated between commissions and personal research. Hermès, EDF, and the Alstom Foundation, among others, have entrusted him with several exhibitions. In 2011, the monograph Au fil de l'Homme was dedicated to him. He has held numerous exhibitions in France and abroad. His works are present in public (BNF) and private collections.
